League information
Everything you need to know about the Alpe Adria Basketball League.
Tournament format
The league consists of 16 teams from 4 countries (Austria, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia), 4 per country. The season has 4 rounds, each hosted by one country: 4 tournaments play on the same day with 4 teams each in a round-robin format. At the final event in May all teams meet to play for the final ranking and the champion.
Player eligibility
Players born in 2015 or younger play in the U12 category. Each team may register up to 30 players for the season; a maximum of 12 players can play at any one tournament.
Game rules
- 4 vs 4 format on the court
- Size 6 basketball, standard 305 cm hoops
- 4 × 8 minute quarters with clock stoppages
- A/B/C/D rotation system: each player plays at most 2 quarters
- 1 timeout per quarter per team
- Bonus free throws after 5 team fouls
Scoring system
Points are awarded using the FIBA system: 2 for a win, 1 for a loss. All tournament games count towards the standings. Equal points are split by the results between the tied teams, then by point difference.
League history
The Alpe Adria basketball league has its roots in the late 1990s, formerly known as “No Borders Basketball”. The renewed project brings together the best youth teams of the Alpine region to promote international cooperation and basketball development.
